Descendants of John B Weller Sedgwick still live in Coles County, Illinois, the neighboring county from which Cumberland was formed.

Ethel Sedgwick only appears with the family in the 1870 census, about 8 years old. I believe that she married Freeman Light and appears as his new wife (less than 1 year) in 1880 Illinois, Cumberland, Cottonwood Township. In the entire 1880 census there is the only Ethel between ages 16 and 20 who is married.

Dewit Clinton Sedgwick married Unis Pentecost [sic] at June 28, 1887
[Cumberland County, Illinois, Volume 1 page 19].
They had a son

Weller C Sedgwick
b. 6/21/1889, Casey, Clark Illinois.
d. June 12, 1929 in a military hospital bu Danville National Cemetery, Danville, Vermillion Illinois (plot 12 3865 R3).
m. Jessie Beatrice Miller January 24, 1915, Clark County, Illinois.
Weller had two sons we know of:
  Charles Leo Sedgwick b. 4/19/1926
who had son Charles Weller Sedgwick b 1958. (per Charles Weller Sedgwick)
  Owen Sedgwick
who had daughter Barbara Sedgwick. (per Barbara Sedgwick)

Wilbur D Sedgwick married Opal Lang 10 Oct 1899 at Clark County, Illinois.
They appear in the 1900 census at 1900 Illinois, Clark, Casey, and Opal appears 1910 Illinois, Clark, Casey I suspect that son "Wilbert A" is actually this Wilbur D. A Wilbur D Sedgwick Jr born in Illinois about 1901, appears in 1930 Texas, Dallas. He is probably a son of Wilber/Wilbur.

* According to the USGS Mapping Database there are two Washington Cemeteries near each other, one in Cumberland County, one in Clark County.
