The obituary of his wife Philotheta stated that he had died two years earlier.
SEDGWICK - In Hospital, at Braser City, near New Orleans, on the first day of April, 1865, of congestive fever, WILLIAM W. SEDGWICK, member of the 25th N.Y. Artillery, and son of Theron Sedgwick of Verona, Oneida County, NY, aged 27 years.
However, I found a listing that he is buried at Brashear City, Louisiana, so this marking at Oneida, on his parent's monument, may be only a memorial. may be a
