"He was drowned in the Hudson River at Kinderhook Landing, N.Y., in 1793, and his body not recovered, while out boating with his three year old daughter Polly, who was saved."
"...I Learned from Miss Battles of Rock Island, that he was drowned in the Hudson in 1793, while boating with his 3 year old daughter and that she was rescued, but his body never found."
