MANERVA PRESTON, 4th. child of Ira and Deborah (Goff) Preston, was born Aug. 22, 1828, in Rush, Monroe Co., N. Y., removing to Michigan with her parents in 1837. She married Nov. 7, 1844, John Carlton. They lived and reared their family on the southeast corner of Section 36, Washington Twp., Macomb Co., Mich. Mr. Carlton died March 33, 1875. Mrs. Carlton married (2nd.) Nov. 30, 1889, William Van Tiffin. They made their home at Fenton, Mich. The children of John and Manerva Carlton were:

1. Judson Carlton, b. May 4, 1848. (163,841)
2. Ransford Carlton, b. May 33, 1850. (163,842)
3. Albert Canlton, b. Nov. 11, 1854, died April 14, 1857.
4, Alfred Carlton, b. July 29, 1861, died Oct. 18, 1869.

JUDSON CARLTON, eldest child of John and. Manerva (Preston) Carlton, was born May 4, 1848, in Washington Twp., Macomb Co., Mich. He married Nov. 1, 1876, Minnie Tucker, who was born Jan. 14, 1854. They had but one child:

1. Mable Lillian Canton.

RANSFORD CARLTON, 2nd. child of John and Manerva (Preston) Carlton, was born May 23, 1850, in Washington Twp., Macomb Co., Mich. He married Sep. 13, 1871, Betsey Grover, who was born March 38, 1854. They had three children:

1. Lewis Carlton.
2. Floyd Carlton.
3. May Carlton.
