Waco, March 1891. Mr.Thos.S.SedgwIck, San Diego. Dear Sir; Your no (?) hand (sic), I owe you an apology for not writing sooner. I must confess that I know very little about my ancestors. I am under the impression that my Grandfather migrated from Md. to Va., his name was Zadock, but Benj. is a family name. I have heard of the Sedwicks of Luray they are distantly connected, also of Ky. I enclose you a letter written by a member of the family inquiring of my mother all about our branch of the family, with a view of getting up a family tree. He is the same man that created a sensation a few years ago as Minister to Mexico. I am sorry to say that I cannot find the letter referred to but will come across it and forward it to you or give you the address. I am sure you can get a great deal of Information from him as he has gone to considerable trouble and expense to get up a complete history of the family. Hoping to hear from you again, I remain John F.Sedwick P.S. My Grandfather resided in Rappannock Co., Va adjoining Page Co. his sons were named Benj., Henley, Bushrad, John and Charles, they were nearly all Methodists. J.F.S. Above is from a typed transciption of the original letter. I never saw the original, and know not whether it still exists. -Dennis Sedgwick 11/15/2002
