Hubert Merrill Sedgwick wrote this about Chauncy Sedgwick: Chauncy Sedgwick (3132)
His information came primarily from Stiles' "History of Ancient Windsor," which did not document the Sedgwick family, but documented some of Chauncy's daughters with the families of the men they married.

Census records show that Chauncy and Waitestill had one son and one daughter born before 1800, had one son and two daughters born between 1800-1810 and two daughters born between 1810-1820, and that the eldest daughter was out of the home by 1820. Add one child that Hubert recorded "died Mar. 18, 1819 aged 4 months," and it might be that they had a total of eight children.

I have seen two lists, one at Ancestry.com and one at FamilySearch.org, that show these children: Catherine F, Eliza, Ann, Maria, Flavella, Elvira, Chester Kies and Aaron Heath, all "Segwick." Because of the unusual spelling, I suspect they both came from the same source. The list at FamilySearch.org cites Ann Sedgwick as marrying Edward Rockwell and Flavella Sedgwick as marrying one "Julius Chapman Hartgood," however, Chauncy's daughter Eliza married Mr Willey, and their daughter Ann Willey married Edward Rockwell4. and their daughter Flavella Willey married Julius Chapman, so those are both very wrong, and left out. Both lists list Elvira with a birth date that has to be Eliza's, casting doubt on the existence of Elvira, so I leave her out also at this time. This leaves only five children plus the unknown who died as in infant. Hopefully we can find more information later.

Children:   This list is the best guess only at this time, so no numbers yet.

John Willey  [parents unknown]
b. bet 1795 - 18022
d. bef 1850 (probably bet 1820-1830)2

John Willey appears in the 1820 census with his wife and one daughter, but never appears again. Because of this, I believe he must have died between 1820 and 1830. Extra people show up at the Chauncy Sedgwick household in 1830; I suspect that these are Eliza and the children.

Obituary of

- Obituary - Sedgwick. Catherine L. Bacon was born in Northfield, Summit Co. OH, 69 yrs 10 mos ago and died in Marysville on 28 Feb 1914. 1 Jan 1861 she was united in marriage to A. H. Sedgwick, at Greenbush, Sheboygan Co. WI. Mr. and Mrs. Sedgwick came to Washington to 1905 and have lived in Everett and Marysville ever since. To their union was born two sons: C. W. Sedgwick, of this city and H. A. Sedgwick, of Everett. They have one adopted daughter, Mrs. Tillie Jean, of Tacoma WA. Mrs. Sedgwick has been a sufferer from paralysis for the past nine years--the last two years of her life she was helpless. Her husband had complete charge of her and on fine days it was not an uncommon sight to see the old gentleman wheeling her around down in the chair. Her end came very peacefully and the funeral was held at the Marysville Undertaking Parlors on Tuesday March 3, Rev. John Chandler officiating. Interment took place at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Undertaker C. H. Schaefer. Mrs. Sedgwick was a woman of great character, although she suffered untold agony for nearly ten years. she was always optimistic and never complained. Her reward should be great in that better world.

March 13, 1914
